Savant VP190 2-Stage Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump tested Pumps Down But Not To Spec.

Condition: Used. Comes in non-original packaging. This pump is in Fair cosmetic condition with lots of minor blemishes, including areas of flaking paint, and some dust/dirt residues in the nooks and crannies.  The oil, when we got this, was black.  We gave it fresh oil and ran the pump for a day, and the oil came out brown and gloopy.  We gave it fresh oil and ran the pump for a day, and the oil came out brown and dirty.  We are NOT sure this pump would be able to draw its rated ultimate pressure if it was thoroughly cleaned inside, but it needs at least a cleaning (or another oil change, or two or possibly some repair?).  The drain plug, when we removed it the first time, was found to be stripped.  We installed a thinner gasket and barely-tightened the drain plug, and used the oil fill port to drain the oil during testing - the sight glass was pretty clear during testing with the last round of fresh oil, but it is currently brown and gross because the dirty oil in the bottom of the pump slid up in the sight glass during draining (through the oil fill port, as the pump was stood on-end).

Notes: This pump is in PARTIAL working condition.  It pumps down under a millitorr pretty fast on our shown testing setup, but it did NOT reach its ultimate pressure rating.  With the as-received old oil, it drew down slowly, to 45mT.  After the first oil change, pressure only dropped to 13 millitorr.  We only saw pressures as low as 4 millitorr during testing, with the second oil change.  We are not sure if this pump needs repair or just (more) fresh oil.  It runs fairly quietly, and the on/off switch works.  The gas ballast works, well enough that mist starts penetrating the exhaust filter eventually.  During normal operation, no mist/smoke/vapor was seen escaping the exhaust filter.  No other testing was done. No manuals, cords/cables, or additional items are included if not listed or shown.
